The Classy 2021 Make-up Trends

Written by: Gaurika Gupta

When it comes to make-up trends, we can’t really predict what will be the upcoming hit in the beauty department, but the past trends can help us predict what it will look like in the future. It can go either way. People could be so comfortable and used to where we are now and keep moving forward in the ‘less is more’ lane. Or, there could be a resurgence in doing a full heavy glam look.”

Below we have 3 of the most popular trends we saw this 2021.

1. THE DRAMATIC EYE LOOK

With all the mask wearing it is predicted that smoldering eye looks will reign supreme among the 2021 make-up trend list.

Be it a classic black eyeliner with a little wing or bright coloured mascara, it foretells lots of playfulness when it comes to the eyes.

Our recommendation is Jillian Dempsey’s Khôl Eyeliners ($20). They’re neat, and they come in all colors. And for the mascaras, we would suggest trying one coat of coloured mascara, followed by a stroke of black or brown- a layering technique that will give you a more subdued take on the trend.

2. FRESH SKIN

We observed fresh, glowing skin at the top of the beauty trend list earlier this fall.

For 2021, rocking your true and real skin will be the “IT game”.

To achieve this natural looking beauty, it is very important to prep your skin. Start by exfoliating and washing, then always use a moisturiser according to your skin type.

The fresh skin look needs a monochromatic appeal that will appear like you are wearing no make-up. Some people misinterpret it as not wearing any make-up but that’s not often true.

Opt for a monochromatic look that will give you the perfect fresh skin feel and don’t forget to moisturize your skin.

3. TECHNICOLOR LIDS

Amongst all the burgeoning makeup trends on the rise for 2021, bold and bright eyelids are our absolute favorites.

It’s finally that time when we can put all the colours we love on our eye-lids, experiment and be creative. To recreate the runway look at home, we suggest painting color-block shapes on the eyes with Danessa Myricks’s Waterproof Cream Palettes, or if you want something a tad more subtle, you can reach for a colored liner instead.

“We love this trend because the sky’s the limit, and you’re free to be as expressive as you want to be!”
