As we say goodbye to Very Peri, and anxiously wait for Pantone’s 2023 colour of the year, let’s take some time to look at one of Pantone’s exciting collaborations with Canadian fashion designer Jason Wu.

Jason worked alongside Pantone to create an ideal shade of grey to include throughout his whole collection; Grey Jason Wu (a sibling line to Wu’s main collection). Wu has expressed that grey is his favourite colour to incorporate into different clothing pieces. Afterall, the collection is named after a colour, so why not work with a reputable brand known for colour! The theme of the collection was casual elegance, and grey was the obvious choice. Grey is a constant throughout recurring fashion seasons and trends. It’s a simple, basic, and elegant colour that is sure to pair well with many others.

Now let’s get into a little more detail about the designer himself. Wu quotes, “I create clothes for women who are not only fiercely fashionable but also own their power and femininity”. Wu has dressed incredibly influential figures such as the former first lady Michelle Obama, talented actress Reese Witherspoon, and iconic model Christy Turlington. The brand encompasses elegance, sophistication and everything in between. His designs are sleek and refined, yet glamorous.

What’s next for the talented Canadian designer? Wu recently launched his own makeup line called Jason Wu Beauty. The brand is built on the same idea as his fashion brand, which is refined femininity, and classic/timeless beauty. Wu wanted to enhance the wearer’s features rather than cover them up with heavy makeup. This being said, his products are specifically made to be lightweight and natural. Not to mention, the beauty products offered are affordable as well!
