The mini skirt has been able to reinvent itself to remain trendy throughout the years. We saw it in the 90s, at the turn of the century and, if you have not noticed, we are in a new resurgence of this famous garment.
The miniskirts we are wearing this summer are very, very, short, that’s why they are called micro skirts. Designers suggest wearing them with masculine-style garments such as shirts or oversize sweaters.
Chanel, Prada and Blumarine bet fully on the revival of the miniskirt, but Miu Miu has been especially responsible for it once again becoming an essential item in any women’s wardrobe.
Surely you have seen the collaboration that model Hailey Bieber did with Miu Miu and that had a lot to do with the imposition of this trend. In the photo Hailey wears a plain dark denim micro skirt with white pockets standing out under the piece. Adjusted with a navy blue belt, it was echoed with the same detail on the top part. She put the finishing touches with a beige satin blazer, denim boots and a gold chain bag.
Not everything is kept in fabrics with classic colors and prints, designers such as Emilio Pucci, Acne Studios, Balmain, Alberta Ferretti and Courrèges have introduced this same skirt style but using side slits, sequins, neon tones and “cargo” skirts
Basically, we have styles for all tastes. How to combine them with the rest of your wardrobe is all about playing with proportions: if wide pants are combined with tight and short tops, micro skirts go better with something oversized or loose on top.
